The Full Scoop: Your costume must be from a published book or book series. We encouraged entrants to dress as their favorite literary character or author from fiction or Non- fiction. Yes, of course, we love fiction but thought it fun to include some non fiction characters, since so many people like to dress like historical figures like a president(Abraham Lincoln) or Social activist (Martin Luther King). We want you to share your love of literature with us and your family and friends. Feel free to accessorize your costume at will. In other words, you can have the book the character is from in the picture or any swag from the story such as wigs, hats, facial hair, makeup, fake blood, gloves, hats, jewelry, weaponry, teeth, etc. all can and should be added to your original look with reckless abandon. You can check out our pinterest board if you need more inspiration.
Once you’ve photographed your costume masterpiece, here is what you need to do. Post one photo of the costume to Instagram tag us @theauthorencounter and use the #theauthorencounterhcc. Then you can tag your family and friends in the comments to like, share and comment on the photo. The deadline to enter is midnight Thursday October 29, 2020. Scroll down to enter!
In addition to the photos, we need a little bit of information about your costume. We want to know all about your costume. Tell us the book name, author and if it is a series.
We will look at every single entry posted under the correct hashtags. Those truly unique and awesome will be shared on our other social channels such as Facebook. Some Literary costumes are sure to blow our minds or make us think. So, be sure to tell your family and friends about it because they are the judges for this contest. The top 3 pictures with the most likes will be posted to our profile by October 30. If you a sim- finalist or just a book lover. we encouraged you to tell your friends and family to like and comment. so everyone can everyone can be in on the fun. The photo with the most likes on our feed on Instagram as of 4 pm central time October 31, 2020. Is the winner! We will announce the winner on facebook and Instagram by 8pm central Time.
All of your photos must be original and taken during the 2020 Halloween Season, which for this contest means from October 1, 2020, to October 29, 2020. We are looking for Literary, book related, creative costumes from any genre, both fiction and non-fiction. Winners will be announced on or before October 31, 2020. We have rules Read them, Follow them ! So we can all have fun and Everyone stays happy!
How to enter:
1. To participate in this contest, you’ll need an Instagram account (this contest is not affiliated with Facebook or Instagram in anyway)

2. Registration is open from October 1-29,2020
Post a photo of your costume October 17 – October 29, on Instagram.
3. You can submit up to 3 photos in a literary costume inspired by fiction or non- fiction literature.
“Literary” means costumes should be inspired by books written and published with ISBN numbers.
4. The Author Encounter Memberships. Before Posting, check out the Contest Rules to ensure your costume entry will be valid.
